3x20 was just another in a long list of episodes that have made the second half of this season a mess.
In the first half, it made sense. The overarching plot was simple - get Stefan back by killing Klaus. Ever since Mikael failed though, it’s just been terrible. Every episode, there’s a new ‘kill Klaus’ plan which promptly fails within the same episode, and by the next episode, there’s another plan. No one is even sure why they’re trying to kill him anymore. The last I heard, it was because Stefan wanted his revenge. Is that still the reason? And why do they want to kill all of the Originals that haven’t sired the Salvatore bloodline? Klaus was perfectly happy to let Elena live her life as long as she donated blood every now and then, Rebekah will follow Klaus wherever he goes, Finn was never a threat to anyone, Elijah doesn’t want to hurt anyone either, and Kol only attacked Damon because he felt that Damon had humiliated him. So, what is the point of all of this?
This episode also showed how the writers have been assassinating the characters for the purposes of furthering the plot. Caroline, for example. She is meant to be one of Elena’s best friends, and yet she pushes her to go on a date with Stefan, conveniently forgetting everything Stefan has done this season.
It also showed how the characters that we are meant to sympathise with and support are shown to be hypocritical and manipulative, because the writers need them to be that way for the moment. A character isn’t something you can just change when it suits you, and a hypocritical character will not have the support of much of the audience. This happened with Caroline, obviously, because the writers felt that they needed an SE shipper on the show, but it also happened with Bonnie and Stefan. Bonnie states that “there is always a choice,” and yet acts the victim every other episode because “she doesn’t have a choice.” Stefan turns Alaric’s death into a scene about himself and Stelena, implying that Elena only has him, conveniently forgetting everyone else who is there for her and loves her, purely so the writers can push SE forward into a forced and rushed ‘build up’ to the finale.
I don’t know what’s been going on with the show recently, but it’s getting pretty ridiculous. The characters have been completely sacrificed, along with the relationships and emotional build up, to make way for contrived plot points and a nonsensical storyline.
#ok julie #then maybe you shouldn’t have had stefan make that moment about him and elena when alaric was dying #then maybe you should’ve given damon/elena/jeremy a scene cause they were closest to alaric #maybe you shouldn’t have had stefan tell elena she has him when we all know damon was the one to promise her he would never leave her #which he never did whereas stefan has

“ when Elena said, “I don’t have anyone anymore,” Stefan took her in his arms and assured her, “You have me.” Typical “safe Stefan.” Stefan wants to play the white-hat hero and rescue Elena. But what is he rescuing her from: her indecision, her refusal to stand up for herself, her inability to be…
Keanu Reeves is a vampire.
Now, look at this:
That’s “Paul Mounet”, a french actor, who “died” in 1922.
His body never was found.
Then, look at this:
An unknown man, painted in 1530 by Parmigianino.
Compare them:
i believe.
